Menopause employee service
Give your people the benefit of expert menopause care
From spring 2027, employers with 250 or more employees will need an action plan that includes menopause support. The Evaro menopause service is a benefit your people can use any time: online, discreet and clinician-led.
What is the menopause action plan requirement?
Employers with 250 or more employees can already publish a voluntary action plan alongside their gender pay gap data. Subject to legislation, these plans become mandatory from spring 2027.
Who
If your organisation has 250 or more employees, you’ll need a plan. If your business has more than one legal entity of that size, each one needs its own plan.
What
A plan with at least two actions: one to address your gender pay gap and at least one to support employees experiencing menopause, including perimenopause and postmenopause.
How
You submit your plan on the government’s gender pay gap service, and it’s published there, next to your pay gap data. A director or senior leader confirms it’s accurate.
Key date: for the 2026 to 2027 reporting year, plans are due by 4 April 2027 for private and voluntary employers, and 30 March 2027 for most public authorities. Read the GOV.UK guidance (opens in a new tab).
Why does menopause matter for employers?
Some women going through menopause have symptoms that affect their confidence and wellbeing at work, including their ability to do their job. Here’s what the evidence says.
27%
More than a quarter of women in a UK health and employment survey reported at least moderate problems coping with menopause at work.
Source: International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (2022), Health and Employment After Fifty study, as reported in the DWP literature review (2025).
7 days
Estimated yearly absence for women with severe symptoms. Absence and presenteeism together are estimated to cost £213 million a year.
Source: NHS Confederation (2024), as reported in the DWP literature review (2025).
£1.5bn
Estimated yearly cost of around 60,000 women being out of work because of perimenopause or menopause.
Source: NHS Confederation (2024), as reported in the DWP literature review (2025).
19%
Only 19% of the 5,399 women surveyed knew about any menopause support at their workplace.
Source: Climacteric (2020), as reported in the DWP literature review (2025).
These figures are estimates. The DWP review notes that study quality varies, and that evidence on which workplace support works best is still limited.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers on the menopause action plan requirement and the Evaro menopause service.
Which employers need a menopause action plan?
Employers with 250 or more employees. A separate plan is needed for each legal entity of that size. Employers in this group can already publish a voluntary plan alongside their gender pay gap data.
When does the menopause action plan become mandatory?
The GOV.UK guidance says plans become mandatory from spring 2027, subject to legislation. For the 2026 to 2027 reporting year, plans are due by 4 April 2027 for private and voluntary employers, and 30 March 2027 for most public authorities.
What must a menopause action plan include?
A plan with at least two actions: at least one to address your gender pay gap and at least one to support employees experiencing menopause, including perimenopause and postmenopause. You submit and publish it on the government’s gender pay gap service, and a director or senior leader confirms it’s accurate.
Does the Evaro menopause service meet the requirement on its own?
Employers choose and publish their own actions, so we can’t say any one service satisfies the requirement by itself. The Evaro menopause service can sit alongside the other actions in your plan, adding direct access to clinician-led menopause care for your people.
What do employees get with the Evaro menopause service?
A free online consultation with a symptom assessment, available 24/7 with no appointments or waitlists. A UK-registered clinician reviews each person’s answers and recommends a plan of one, two or three treatments, from patches, vaginal oestrogens, non-hormonal options, oral progesterone, gels and sprays. Treatment is delivered discreetly each month, and plans can be adjusted or paused at any time.
Can employers pay for or discount the service?
Yes. Employers can cover the full cost for their people, or offer the service at a discounted rate. Register your interest and we’ll be in touch to talk through how it could work.
Who designed the Evaro menopause service?
Dr Charlotte, our clinical lead and a Specialist Doctor in Women’s Health with 14 years experience. She leads the menopause service and its prescribing team at Evaro.
